Policemen sacked for killing youth in Lagos

The police in Lagos at the weekend announced that three policemen attached to Amukoko Division: 25759 Sgt. Osaseri Saturday, 35 9075 Sgt. Segun Okun, 496833 Cpl. Adekunle Oluwarotimi have been tried and dismissed from the Nigeria Police for, ​”​bre​a​ching the rules of engagement with
​ reckless application of firearms​”​.

This is contained in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, SP Chike Oti.

It said the Non Commissioned Officers (NCOs), committed the offence on the 11/01/2018, at about 2130 hours, at Ifelodun street, Amukoko, Lagos​.

The ex-personnel had ​”​disproportionately​”​ ​fired at some youths alleged to have hurled stones, sticks and bottles​ at them.

​O​ne of the youth​s was killed ​and ​another ​injur​ed.

The​ trio​ were arrested, detained and tried immediately on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, Lagos state, CP Edgal Imohimi​.
